The Kannawidan Festival of Ilocos Sur is a vibrant celebration of the province’s rich culture, history, and traditions. It marks the foundation anniversary of Ilocos Sur and highlights the unique heritage of the Ilocano people through traditional dances, music, arts, and local products. The festival also promotes tourism and economic growth by showcasing the province’s One Town, One Product (OTOP)goods, such as Vigan longganisa, bagnet, Abel Iloco fabric, and basi wine. Beyond festivities, Kannawidan fosters unity, pride, and cultural preservation, ensuring that Ilocano traditions are passed on to future generations.

  This quarter in ICT 10, I have been working on HTML tags and websites designing. It was interesting to see how different tags like  <h1>  for headers,  <p>  for paragraphs, and  <img>  for pictures are used for the layout of the web page. Creating web pages also helped me appreciate how information has to be arranged and syntax used. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of tags and their attributes that were required to be learned, but with time and practice, I was able to improve. This particular experience has provided me with an amazing experience in web development and made me excited towards building more complex and attractive pages in the future.

Initiatives and Laws to Prevent Violence Against Women

Violence Against Women (VAW) is one of the major global problems, a global problem that cuts across borders and civilizations including in the Philippines. Based on the 2022 National Demographic and Health Survey, almost one out of five Filipino women has been subjected to emotional, physical, or sexual violence from a partner. Such statistics is a concerning factor as VAW needs to be addressed because it is not only a gross violation of human rights of women but also engenders a society that is characterized by violence, inequalities and backwardness. Internationally and in the Philippines, several programs and legal mandates have been established to address VAW and assist the victims. One of these is the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women which is held every year and aims to sensitize and advocate against VAW.
